This drawing has long been known as "Circus Troupe", but we think that it is the same drawing listed as "Clowns at Practice" [Cat 33] in Richard's first one man show at the Goupil Gallery in 1929. We have renamed it for this catalogue raisonné and added "Circus Troupe" to the aka list.

This work was possibly shown at the New English Art Club summer show in 1929, a few months before the solo exhibition at the Goupil Gallery in December. The NEAC catalogue lists two Eurich's, "The Great Viol" and "Clowns". We can probably safely assume that The Great Viol (1927) is the same one as in the Goupil catalogue, but "Clowns" could refer to either "Clowns at Practice (aka "In the Circus") or Clowns by the Sea (c1929) , both in the Goupil show, or to neither of them.
