Richard Eurich was a 20th century British figurative artist who followed his instincts rather than the prevailing fashions.
Stubbornly hard to categorise, he is best known as a marine painter and an official war artist, but he explored a wide range of subjects and styles. His pictures are full of delight and humanity, often playful or mysterious. He commands a loyal following of collectors, critics and artists who think his work is highly underrated and deserving of more attention. His family has published this site to strengthen and extend that respect.

Most people interested in Modern British Art have heard of painters born the same year as Richard Eurich - Eric Ravilious, John Piper, Graham Sutherland etc., but Richard's name is less well recognised. We thought his work is of equal interest and should be more widely known and enjoyed, so we commissioned a book from the art publisher Lund Humphries.
We wanted to give author Andrew Lambirth the broadest range of works possible to draw from for his research, so went on the road to find and photograph unknown pictures. We were surprised and excited by many of the pictures that turned up.
The Art of Richard Eurich is the result - an important insight into Richard's work, making him a bit better known and expanding our understanding of what he achieved.
