Perhaps it should have been titled 'An Unexpectedly High Tide', as it records the conditions at Lepe on the day Richard and Mavis were stranded and their car flooded. Their rescue was front-page news. Both were highly amused that to the typically uncultured local and national press, they were just OAPs, not one of the most senior RAs and his wife (which would have made a better story)! He painted the car out for artistic reasons ..."
