There are two versions of "The Mummers", this 1952 version in the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery and the 1951 version in Nottingham Castle, Museum and Art Gallery.

- REP / PC

A childhood memory from RE's early life in Bradford. The Eurich family lived next door to Eileen Beldon, an actress of some note and daughter of Mrs Beldon the suffragette. The whole family depicted here was keen on amateur theatricals and dressing up on any occasion. The small boy (upper left) is RE himself. 'It was amusing to think that in this sedate part of Bradford, in a private road of great respectability a house existed in which surrealism or the Marx brothers reigned supreme . . . '

- Caroline Krzesinska, "Richard Eurich RA - A Retrospective Exhibition" catalogue 1979-80; entry 49 from RE autobiography, correspondence with RE and Hove Museum of Art.
