Sunday Afternoon, Glarner Alp

My parents came to visit Manfred and me when we lived near Zürich. It was quite an event as my father didn’t take kindly to breaking his routine of life. We drove here and there with them to entertain them. I don’t remember being held up by my father stopping to make sketches and of course he did have a prodigious visual memory. Back at home he produced a few paintings and this is my favourite. The mountains are fairly spiky and craggy but here he has endowed them with a wonderful rhythm and character. He obviously enjoyed the antics of the paragliders.
