Star

A few years before Dad painted this picture, the family’s beloved Dalmatian dog Grock died and after a while, we bought Star. He was a bit more difficult. He would run off if we turned our backs and once even got on a bus and then the ferry over to Southampton before someone noticed him and rang us. But he was also quite a character. I had a teddy bear called Tommy which Star loved. It became a game to hide Tommy in the sittingroom in ever more obscure places while Star waited outside the door. When we let him in he would sniff round the room and always find the bear.
