In the late 70s and early 80s we sometimes visited a friend of my mother's who had built her retirement home on a plot of land she inherited overlooking Plymouth Sound and out to sea towards the Eddystone lighthouse. This remarkable drawing reminds me of that area and is certainly not the Solent near where my family lived. The soft pencil lines are close together and describe a rhythm to the water without any clear definition.
