Cornish Landscape with Pigs
1932
- REP / CCAccording to Richard's sales diary this painting was originally bought by Richard's early patron Sir Edward Marsh. Marsh bought nine Eurichs as far as we know. Some he immediately passed on to public galleries. Others he added to his huge art collection. When he died the collection was distributed by the Contemporary Art Society through the Sir Edward Marsh Bequest, with many going as gifts to public galleries large and small throughout the UK. Although there is a record that 'Cornish Landscape with Pigs' was to be presented by the CAS to Darlington Art Gallery, this did not happen. CAS returned it to the family and it has passed down the generations ever since.
The family have got in touch recently (late 2023). They were searching this site for clues about their painting and found the sketch it is based on. We had no image of the painting and had been wondering how to track one down, when suddenly it was supplied, with our sincere thanks, by the owners, filling a significant gap in our records.
