- from Richard's memoir 'As the Twig is Bent'This work was prompted by a memorable rugger match at the end of Spring Term 1914 when Richard was at St George's School, Harpenden. Richard writes about it in his his memoir. The piece ends with:
Tea seemed a feeble affair until the heroes of the afternoon trooped in after their baths, looking pink and strange. We looked our last on most of them, their names being inscribed in the Roll of Honour.
