"Silver Morning, Solent" (no photo available) and "Overcast Sky" (illustrated) were originally in the catalogue raisonné as two separate works, but a photo has now been found of the painting "Silver Morning, Solent" and it is the same as the photo we already have for "Overcast Sky". The two records have now been merged.

By the sea you sometimes get these massive skies that seem more solid than the water beneath. I think the tiny figure is a self-portrait. My brother once took a photo of my father by the sea resting on a shooting stick (no-one seems to have those nowadays) and his feet were planted in just that attitude. See photo below.
