The vulnerability of this figure seems emphasised by her paleness… almost paler than the white clouds. But she also has a massiveness in the picture, extending upwards through layers of sea and sky. Her attention is caught by the passing planes,  close together in the distance. There is something rather disquieting about them, possibly military craft in that sort of formation? With this thought she is made yet more vulnerable.
