Richard included bait diggers as the main subject or tiny in the background or foreground in dozens of works.

One of the many ‘bait digger’ pictures . . . . It seems to be low tide more often than not when Dad was around. Although divided in three horizontally, he also divides this painting vertically into ‘centre stage’ and ‘the wings’. Lovely subtle colours and tones.
