This work is was commissioned by Esso Petroleum. It shows a view of their refinery at Fawley, not far from Richard's home in The New Forest. "The Seven Sisters" is the nickname for the seven large pressurised spheres on the right used to store Butene gas.

Some years later Richard's son Crispin, a talented photographer, took some iconic photos there.

See also an earlier commission for Esso of their Milford Haven site in Wales: Milford Haven (c1958).
